Huge scrapbook dump today. I'm still struggling to get the energy to do a full fledged deviation, so enjoy these sketches while you wait for the goods!

Just some kaiju and mech ideas I had floating around my head. The Minhaoco and its imago flying form are going to be featured on one of my Second Age of Monsters stories (The Bout in the Sky is its working title). The Behemoth, Ziz, and Roc mechs are all going to be featured in Tyrantis's Saga. The two dinosaur kaiju and the Thunderchild Mech may become part of the Second Age of Monsters storyline, although I'm not quite sure where to put them.

The Thunderchild would actually be an effective anti-kaiju weapon should it be featured, able to subdue and even destroy kaiju very, very well. Can you guess where I got its name?

I must say, a lot of these sketches are *very* good. That twisty sketch of King Minhaco looks very nice and I also like that POV shot of The Roc from the ground. You're starting to get a nice sense of form and construction. It's pretty hard to get that to carry over to an inked drawing, admittedly; I can attest to that personally. xp
Thanks! Yeah, one of the reasons a lot of these sketches haven't made it to full deviations yet is my inability to translate them well into inked copies.

Minhaco...now THAT's an insect-kaiju. Pure angular, armored elegance, with some crazy deaths-head markings & a truly fearsome facial structure.

Regarding the Roc...it's truly odd how few avian-themed mechs you see, given that nearly all of 'em seem to be flight-capable these days. The cockpit/helm, talons & wings are especially neatly rendered, and those wingroot-guns (masers?) are insane.

As for the Behemoth & TC...I can certainly envision how a kaiju-scale tank (and the implied munitions thereof) would wreak holy hell...and if nothing else, making your anti-monster vehicles too big for a given monster to effortlessly crush/punt/stomp can't hurt (aside from the national budget...I would NOT relish writing one of those beasts off). One question: are those black squares on the TC viewports?

Nice little sketch of Big Ty contemplating a calamari repast....if that crazy octopus thought Kong was bad, look out.

Finally, your latest armored dino-duo is simply exquisite. Kylocanthor's mix of features from different anklylo/nodosaur species (Euoplocephalus cheek-spines, Scolosaur club-spikes, Sauropelta back-spines) is impressively done (and that secondary sketch is delightfully dynamic), while this new Steg is almost too slick for words. The nicely-proportioned limbs/torso/head/tail...the sweeping diamond plates...the wicked shoulder/hip spines...and DAMN, that's almost TOO much thagomizer. I know exaggerating the pointy bits is fun, but may I suggest (1) shaving a third off the tail-spikes' length and (2) tilting 'em so they stick out at a diagonal angle from the tail-tip? Both tweaks just seem like they'd give Steggy here an easier time slashing/skewering targets.

Here's hoping the new dinos (and those spiffy tanks) find their place in the Ty-verse, and thanks for this especially nifty look behind the scenes.
The wing-root guns are a currently un-named weapon unique to the Tyrantis-verse. I originally called them masers back when I though masers were made up by the Godzilla series, but I think a more accurate term would be "gravity beam canons." They shoot a beam that can manipulate gravity, which is why they're used as both engines and weapons. The beam can pull objects toward the canon, push them away, or if powered up enough, tear them to shreds. Kemlasulla and the theoretical Tyrantis-verse King Ghidorah would both sport a natural version of this weapon.

The black squares are indeed viewports. The Thunderchild is a huge vessel and has a huge crew to match. I also imagine it as a ferry for tourists that wish to view Tyrantis's Island when it's established as a kaiju wildlife sanctuary.

Kylocanthor almost got edmontonia shoulder blades as well, but I had trouble balancing them with the rest of his armor. I wouldn't be opposed to decreasing Stegorun's thagomizer in size a bit: like Triceradon, it's a bit hard to make them larger without making them too large.

Artificial grav-beams...a spiffy, quasi-sensible multipurpose device. As for the shoulder-spikes, much as I dig that particular feature, Anky here is more than well-armored enough without 'em.
